Sugarpill Cosmetics - Fun with Color!

Ok I found a new love - another love! lol These are my first colors from Sugarpill Cosmetics. I got Poison Plum (purple), Love+ (red), and Velocity (blue). These colors are A-Mazing! The color pay off and intensity is absolutely ideal. I find that red, blue and purple are hard colors to find with great color payoff, texture, blend-ability and vibrancy. Sugarpill definitely provides all of those!! I love it and highly recommend!

Here is a look I did with these three colors.

Love+ (blended up through crease)

Makeover Monday!

Good Morning!!! I hope everyone had a great weekend that went by sllooow! (Mine went by too fast, but I am ready to take on another Monday!) I wanted to share with you a few makeovers I did recently. I loved making these ladies feel and see how beautiful they are. Its so rewarding when clients love my work and I see the transformation in them and their confidence!

These ladies I met while volunteering at Recovery Innovations in Phoenix. They were so sweet and excited to get their makeup done. It was such a pleasure to meet and spend some time with them.

I wanted to keep their makeup very natural and a look they could recreate and wear everyday.

These next two ladies I actually work with and they wanted me to do their makeup on our lunch break lol! It was fun and a good break from work. Since we work in a corporate environment I kept their makeup simple and elegant.

Hope you all have a great week!!

Pink with Envy of Blue and Green!

I know I have said before that I am naturally more of a neutral-look girl, but I do like to be creative and come up with looks that are bright and colorful! This might not be a look that I personally would where out and about or just to the mall, but I do love the way this turned out! I used the BH Cosmetics 88 Matte Palette. This is a FAB palette for those who adore bright, bold, vibrant, colorful looks!

How to: Eyebrows

Hello Saturday! As requested, I put together a picture tutorial on how I do my eyebrows. (Maybe one day I'll venture into videos...lol.) I know it would be a lot easier to follow if this was a video, but I hope you can at least get the basic idea. :)

Lets begin.....

This is my eyebrow after a few weeks since the last time I groomed them.
It still has its basic shape....Even though I did recently get them professionally waxed for the first time, I have always just shaped and plucked them myself.

First I brush my eyebrow upward.....

I then take hair cutting shears (or small scissors) and trim them.

Then I brush them downward....

And trim them.

Next, I use tweezers to pluck the unwanted hairs.

*Here's a tip on making sure your basic shape is right.
Take a brush or pen and place it vertical against the side of your nose. Your brow should start right where the brush/pen passes by your brow.

*Then turn the brush/pen at an angle (still keeping the brush based at your nose) passing across the middle of your lid.
This is where your eyebrow should arch.

*Last, angle the brush outward, laying across the end of your eyelid.
This is where your brow should end.

After my basic shape is done, I take a firm small angled eye shadow brush and a matte brown eyeshadow - I used MAC Espresso. (I use a shadow, not a pencil as I feel like it looks more natural, and is easier to make sure they aren't too harsh. Also, never use a pure matte black eyeshadow, even if your hair is black. It will look harsh and fake. Stick with a deep, brownish-black, like MAC Brun. Be sure to only use matte shadow, no shimmer!)

And I start to shade them in.
Hold the brush so the bristles are vertical and the longest part the the angle is on top. This is how I color in the first part of my brow.

Then I turn the brush horizontal and continue to shade in the rest.

This is what they look like fully colored in.

I then take a small firm brush (Real Techniques Detailer Brush from the Core Collection) and a small amount of concealer (MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer)....

And apply under my brow. I do this to make them precise and it also gives a natural highlight to the browbone.

Last I blend the concealer out (downward).

TA-DA! My perfect eyebrow!! :)

Hope you find this helpful!

Teen Look!

Happy Friday my lovelies! I wanted to share this look I did for my lil Ms. Aliya. I love the way it turned out and it was pretty quick to do. Its perfect for pre-teens and teens - not over done, subtle and just enhances her natural beauty! This look is also great for women who don't like a lot of makeup and want something quick, easy and not too many products. Here's the rundown! :)

Face
LORAC Exposed Blush (shimmery bright pink)
*Don't be overwhelmed or intimidated by BRIGHT blushes! Use a fluffy blush brush to apply - lightly - just dab in the blush and it will look natural and beautiful!

Eyes
MAC Tan Pigment (sshimmery golden tan) - on lid
L'Oreal Bottomless Java (sshimmery golden cocoa) - in Crease and along bottom lash line
Urban Decay Foxy (matte vanilla) - Browbone
NYX Black (matte black) - Upper lash line
L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara
*Don't feel like you HAVE to use these exact shades. Look for similar colors in other brands and experiment with your own combination. You cant go wrong!

Lips
Wet n Wild Mega Shield Lip Color in Pink Champagne

Everyone Loves A Basic Smokey Eye

Well Hello! I found this lipstick on clearance, so even though its not a typical color I reach for, I decided to try it. For $3 its worth the risk, right? Its Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Rosy Nude. I wanted to try it out - complete look and all- so I put this together last night pretty quickly (please ignore my weird shaped eyebrow lol). I did a basic smokey eye using browns and black from the BH Cosmetics 120 Color 3rd Edition Palette. Here is the breakdown...... :)

I started by applying MAC Painterly Paint Pot all over eye lid up to the brow (this is used as a base to help the shadow last longer and be more vibrant).

Next, I applied this shimmery brown shade to just the lid using a Sonia Kashuk fluffy medium eyeshadow brush.

Then this shimmery rosy gold shade to the crease and blended upward using a EcoTools large eyeshadow brush.

I used this matte light brown to blend the two colors together using a Sonia Kashuk blending brush.

Then I applied the black shadow to the lashline (upper and lower) using a EcoTools pencil brush

Blend out the black shadow (upper lashline) using a ELF Mineral blending brush.

Lastly, I applied mascara (L'Oreal Voluminous), cleaned up any fallout, applied my foundation, concealer, blush and lipstick.

Face
Maybelline FIT ME Liquid Foundation
MAC Studio Fix Powder
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural - Dark (contour)
MAC Margin and Trace Gold Blushes mixed together

Lips
MAC Burgandy Lip Pencil
Revlon Colorburst Rosy Nude Lipstick

This lipstick is very moisturizing and goes on smooth. I really like the texture and staying power of all the Revlon Colorburst Lipsticks and this one is no exception. I'm not crazy about the color on me, but it is a very pretty color - especially for darker skintones. :)

*Don't have a variety of brushes - That's ok! Try it anyway using what you do have!!! You can even use a q-tip to help you blend (dont press hard or you will lift off the color)
**I do suggest the everyone have atleast one blending brush (2 is ideal).
xoxo
